LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The City of Lincoln announced that former Mayor Coleen Seng died on Monday.
In a press release on Tuesday, the city said that Seng, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Seng began her public life through neighborhood advocacy and community organizing, work that shaped her commitment to civic engagement.
She served on the City Council from 1987 to 2003 and as Lincoln’s 50th Mayor from 2003 to 2007.
Throughout her career, she earned a reputation for fairness, integrity, and steady leadership, according to the city.
She focused her mayoral tenure on strengthening public safety, supporting neighborhoods, and improving residents’ quality of life across the city.
