CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland City Council voted 13-2 Monday night to approve a $100 million settlement agreement with the Cleveland Browns, paving the way for the team to move to Brook Park.
The agreement ends the city’s lawsuit against the Browns and clears the way for the team’s relocation.
Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne said he believes the city could have gotten a better outcome.
“I think that we could have got a stronger outcome,” Ronayne said in an exclusive interview with 19 News. “I’ve said it before, continue to be consistent, I think this is a generational mistake.”
Ronayne noted the council was in a difficult spot, forced into a reactionary position.
But he also believes the Browns’ existing lease could have presented better leverage.
