The Northshore Humane Society is asking community members to provide temporary homes for dogs after a fire damaged its largest kennel Tuesday afternoon.
The shelter said the blaze, believed to have been caused by a heater malfunction, broke out in Kennel A at around 12:30 p.m. Staff quickly evacuated all animals, and all dogs were safely removed from the building. No injuries were reported.
The shelter is asking local residents to consider fostering dogs during the cold weather, as the fire has left the facility without adequate heating.
Residents are encouraged to visit the facility, located at 20384 Harrison Avenue in Covington, to learn more about fostering dogs and other ways to support the Humane Society.
