MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) - Murfreesboro city leaders are calling for more transparency on an expansion to the Middle Point Landfill.

The city filed a lawsuit against BFI Waste Systems of Tennessee.

The city of Murfreesboro is accusing BFI of trying to circumvent state law and stop local review and public comments on the landfill.

The city says BFI is looking to add a layer about 70 feet tall and put in roughly 19 million tons of waste to the existing landfill.
