(WNDU) - The College Football Playoff (CFP) selection committee released its penultimate rankings of the 2025 season on Tuesday night, and it might have Notre Dame fans a little worried.

The Fighting Irish (10-2) dropped one spot from No. 9 to No. 10 after they were leapfrogged by Alabama in this week’s rankings. The No. 10 ranking keeps the Irish in ESPN’s projected playoff bracket, but only by the skin of their teeth.

With Notre Dame being idle this week, the Irish will need to hope one or two things go their way in the conference championship games this weekend. Irish fans will be rooting for No. 11 BYU to lose to No. 4 Texas Tech in the Big 12 championship game, as a Cougars upset would more than likely knock the Irish out of the playoff picture.
