Penn State’s soap opera season has continued into December.

In Tuesday’s episode of “Days of Our Lions,” the program suffered a high-profile public rejection from Kalani Sitake, who signed an extension to remain at BYU rather than become Penn State’s head coach.

The Cougars announced that Sitake was remaining at his alma mater Tuesday evening, leaving the Nittany Lions and athletic director Pat Kraft scrambling for another plan more than 50 days after he fired James Franklin after a 3-3 start.

A BYU football staffer posted video on social media of Sitake addressing the Cougars at practice, saying “I’m not going anywhere,” before his players mobbed him in celebration.
