HONOLULU (Island News) -- A Honolulu man is one of five suspects who were indicted on Tuesday in what federal prosecutors call a nationwide online child-exploitation ring known as “Greggy's Cult.”
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), 22-year-old Rumaldo Valdez of Honolulu and four others from across the country are accused of using Discord and gaming platforms to target children, pressuring and threatening them into explicit and degrading acts.
The DOJ said the group produced and shared illegal material online, and allegedly extorted both minors and adults. The five men were arrested in coordinated raids on on Tuesday, Dec. 2, and they will be arraigned in New York.
