The United States Secret Service spoke Monday afternoon from their downtown Orlando office on a "consumer-related operation."
"They look the same, right?" asked a U.S. Secret Service agent holding an electronic point-of-sale payment device. It seems nearly identical to the original piece of plastic, just with suspect circuitry inside.
The second device is commonly known as a skimmer, and they’re getting more sophisticated to help crooks try and steal money from store merchants and their customers.
They steal credit and debit card information when cards are inserted into the devices, and skimmer theft is increasing as people are holiday shopping.
