NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The people have spoken: Matt Van Epps will be filling Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District seat left vacant by former Rep. Mark Green, per NBC News.
NBC News projects that Republican Van Epps will defeat Rep. Aftyn Behn (D-Nashville) to represent the 7th Congressional District, which spans 14 Tennessee counties.
The polls in the district closed at 7 p.m. CT.

Before winning the special election, Van Epps was a combat veteran who also worked in the Tennessee Department of General Services under Gov. Bill Lee.
