BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said it's been requested by the Bartow County Sheriff's Office to investigate a deadly shooting involving law enforcement.
A search warrant was executed in reference to a death investigation at a home on GA-20 Spur in Cartersville, according to the GBI.
GBI officials said the man inside refused to leave the home when law enforcement arrived and flashbangs were deployed into the house.
At that time, the man, 39-year-old Dylan Burl Rice, left the house using the back door with what appeared to be a shotgun or rifle, according to GBI.
Deputies tried to use less-lethal foam and pepper rounds on Rice, GBI said, but he pointed a gun towards them. This is when a deputy shot and killed Rice, according to the GBI.
