6 nonprofits get $5,000 checks

The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne surprised six local nonprofits with in-person check presentations related to its annual #GivingTuesdayFW Challenge.

Throughout November, nonprofits with agency endowments at the Community Foundation competed to raise the most dollars (and donors) to support their long-term sustainability.

Foundation officials awarded $5,000 to each winning organization. They presented checks Tuesday to The Literacy Alliance, Bach Collegium, Matthew 25 Health and Dental Clinic, Fort Wayne Sister Cities International/Chapman Exchange Students Fund and Project Ballet.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne received its surprise grant Monday.
