A garbage truck driver was killed after he was struck by the truck he was operating in Scarborough on Tuesday morning.
Police responded to reports of the incident near the area of Morningside Avenue and Sewells Road at around 8:30 a.m., according to a post on social media .
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, investigators said, adding that the Ministry of Labour has been notified.
A 66-year-old man was driving the garbage truck westbound on Middleport Crescent near Pennyhill Drive , police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. He was outside the vehicle when it started to roll and hit him, investigators said, noting Traffic Services is also investigating.
