LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - University of Kentucky fans and students are expressing excitement about the upcoming announcement of Will Stein as the new football coach, anticipating a fresh start for the program.

Students say they believe the future is bright under Stein’s leadership, despite recent seasons with fewer wins.

“I’m not from the area but I have fallen in love with the team. Certainly a big fan,” said Spencer Baker, a UK student.

Family connections to Kentucky

Stein’s family has deep Kentucky connections. His mother runs a bakery in Louisville, and despite Stein playing for the Cardinals, she said they have always been UK fans.
