LAKE NEBAGAMON, Wis. (Northern News Now) - A man died after falling about 100 feet from a communications tower in Douglas County.

The accident happened 10:30 a.m. Monday on Industrial Park Road in Lake Nebagamon.

The man has been identified as Gere Walden from South Carolina. According to the Douglas County Sheriffs office, Walden and some co-workers were in the area doing work on the communications tower when he fell from the tower.

CPR was started and an AED was used, but he died from his injuries on scene.

Brett Lindelof at the local grocery store in Lake Nebagamon says many customers were talking about the accident on Tuesday.

“Everybody’s a little, somewhat shocked by it. This doesn’t happen a lot here, at all here. So, I think everybody’s just caught off guard by the incident,”
