RUDYARD — The Cheboygan Chiefs have high expectations for this basketball season .
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Chiefs opened their 2025-26 campaign in dominant fashion by rolling to a 68-30 victory at Rudyard in a non-conference matchup.
It didn’t take long for the Chiefs (1-0) to take control, as they opened the game on an 11-0 run that featured a pair of layups from Nolan Schley, a 3-pointer from Andrew Kiefer, a mid-range jumper from Gavin Smith, and a layup for Landon Gahn following a Rudyard turnover. By the end of the first quarter, Cheboygan held a commanding 26-3 advantage.
Cheboygan refused to take its foot off the pedal, increasing its lead to 49-9 by halftime.
