MANITOWOC, Wis. (WBAY) - A federal lawsuit was filed against the Manitowoc County Jail by one of its inmates, Jesse Vang, one of two people at the center of the Elijah Vue case.
The little boy disappeared in Manitowoc County in February 2024 and was found dead later that fall.
Federal court documents obtained by Action 2 News show Vang is accusing jail staff of singling him out and punishing him more harshly than other inmates, accusations that staff deny in the same documents.
The 41-year-old was taken into custody on Feb. 20, 2024, the same day he reported 3-year-old Elijah Vue missing to Two Rivers police.
He and co-defendant Katrina Baur, Elijah’s mother, were initially held on chronic child-neglect charges for previous child abuse that occurred in Vang’s apartment.
