PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The Paintsville Tigers hosted Ashland Blazer in their first game of the regular season, and lost 78-76.

The Tigers had the hot hand to start the game.

Parker Helton drained a corner three to get Paintsville on the board first.

Landon Slone’s unit would force a timeout following a putback by Brock Woods, which put the Tigers ahead, 9-0.

Paintsville went on an 11-0 run to start the game following a layup by Graham Shutts.

Ashland Blazer scored their first points of the game with a little less than four minutes remaining in the first quarter, courtesy of an Elijah Neel layup.

Going into halftime Paintsville led, 30-28.

This contest remained neck and neck until the end, with the Tomcats outlasting the Tigers.
