Deshal Raja’s family property busines s started in 1986 when his father bought his first house to rent out.
“He started with a corner shop, worked hard and bought properties over time to rent them out. I took over running the business when I finished university. I was helping my dad and I saw there were things that he could be doing better,” says the 34-year-old.
The family now own around 50 properties across outer and central London, 95 per cent as limited companies and 5 per cent in their own name. The total portfolio is valued at around £25m and the average yield is 8 per cent, although this is only an estimate as some properties were bought over 30 years ago. New Feature
