LAWRENCE — As Kansas basketball coach Bill Self reflected Tuesday on what he could take away from a 61-56 loss against No. 5 UConn, his mind first went to the Jayhawks’ halftime lead.
Self said KU , which led 33-29 at the end of the first half, should have been up by a lot more than four points. He thinks the Jayhawks’ bad offense, including unforced turnovers, not enough ball movement and too often trying to play one-on-one against Huskies defenders, led to them having six-to-10 bad possessions in which they had no chance to score. In the second half, he saw more of the same.
Self also pointed to KU’s defense. Other than messing up on a couple of switches late, he thought his Jayhawks guarded well. They just didn’t rebound enough in the second half.
But Self couldn’t help but point
