Some of the top boys basketball programs in the region gathered for a preseason tournament just before Thanksgiving to help keep a promise to the late Matt Torgersen.

A lockdown defender in his days at Georgetown High, Torgerson passed away from osteosarcoma and left behind a promise to find a cure. That led to the Matty’s Promise Foundation, which which is centered around the game he loved and helping fight the aggressive bone cancer.
