ASHLAND, Virginia — A masked bandit got drunk as a skunk after breaking into a liquor store last weekend ... even though the bandit is a raccoon.
A news release from the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter details the unusual break-in, which was reported Saturday morning at ABC Store in Ashland.
When police arrived, they found shelves in the store had been ransacked. It didn’t take officers long to track down the culprit, a very drunken raccoon that was passed out on the floor of a bathroom in the store.
“After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), (the raccoon) was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer,” the news release says.
