British pensioners will now have to pay for healthcare in France after lawmakers in the country announced the closure of a current loophole allowing expats to take advantage.

The proposals have now passed through both chambers of parliament, which now means foreign retirees from outside the European Union must make minimum payments for their medical coverage.

The changes are expected to come into effect as early as next year, though no confirmation of the exact amount of contributions has been confirmed.
