Freezing temperatures could create dangerous black ice on wet roads overnight into Wednesday morning, forecasters say.
Tuesday’s storm brought moderate to heavy precipitation across the state, with some areas receiving enough rain to challenge daily precipitation records.
Atlantic City Airport set a daily record with 1.27 inches of rain, beating the previous amount of 1.03 inches set in 1996.
The highest snowfall total for Tuesday’s storm was recorded at Kittatinny Lake in Sussex County at 3.6 inches.
Temperatures will fall into the 20s for most areas overnight, creating conditions for black ice to form on roadways, especially north of Interstate 78 where slushy snow melt may refreeze.
