Boston’s commercial properties, struggling with high office vacancy rates, are projected to decline in value another 6% in the coming year, leaving the city’s residential taxpayers with a greater burden of funding the city's operations.

Lower valuations on many of Boston’s most expensive properties — like office towers in downtown and Back Bay — are challenging Mayor Michelle Wu’s goal of keeping city services in place while not forcing far larger tax bills on residents.
