Booklovers have a new metric to brag about for their 2025 reading: Spotify Wrapped is now including audiobook listening hours and other personalized data.

It’s been two years since Spotify began offering 15 monthly audiobook listening hours under its Premium Plan. Last year, the streaming giant released the top global titles and authors. This year, you can see your reading analyzed alongside your music in Wrapped. You may even receive a “thank you” video from your top author.

Spotify also identified the top audiobook narrator of the year, which USA TODAY is exclusively revealing.

Spotify Wrapped adds audiobooks to personalized experience

Spotify introduced Wrapped for Authors last year, but this year readers will get a snapshot of their top audiobook, top genres and the total number of audiobooks listened to. Top audiobooks are decided based on the number of hours listened.

“Everyone loves politely bragging about their reading, loves sharing how many books they've read, their top books of the year,” says Rebecca McGuire, Spotify’s associate director of audiobook partnerships and licensing. “I think Wrapped really organically ties into that sentiment.”

Like Spotify does with musicians for listeners, readers will receive a personalized message from their top authors for the first time in 2025. Featured authors include Rebecca Yarros, Carley Fortune, Richard Osman, Sarah J. Maas and James Patterson and more.

Half of Spotify Premium users tried the audiobooks feature in 2025, according to McGuire.

“We're really impressed with that,” McGuire says. “We feel there's a lot of new users and new listeners who probably never tried an audio platform and that's really the feedback that we've got from publishing industry and authors is that we're really breathing excitement into the industry.”

Julia Whelan is Spotify's top audiobook narrator of 2025

Julia Whelan is Spotify’s top audiobook narrator of 2025, the streaming platform revealed exclusively to USA TODAY. This is the first time Spotify has crowned a top narrator.

"It's incredible," Whelan told USA TODAY at a Spotify event ahead of Wrapped's release. "It highlights and underlines the fact that audiobooks are a larger part of media and entertainment. I'm very grateful, obviously, to receive this, but more than anything I'm just happy for the industry that it's finally being included as it should be."

Whelan is the voice behind some of this year’s biggest bestsellers, including “Atmosphere” by Taylor Jenkins Reid, “These Summer Storms” by Sarah MacLean and “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry.

USA TODAY dubbed Whelan the “voice of the summer” in June. It’s more than just her voice and acting skills – Whelan has become the face of an industry known only for voice, a public figure in a social media era where readers have unprecedented access to the creatives that bring their favorite books to life. Whelan’s voice on an audiobook can lead to a boom in sales.
