Bengaluru-based High Court advocate Prashanth Methal has filed a second complaint against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh for allegedly insulting the traditional Tulu spirit-worship depicted in Rishab Shetty ’s Kantara movies. The complaint was lodged at the High Grounds Police Station, Goa, following the actor’s performance at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on November 28.
According to the complaint, Ranveer mimicked the Panjuluri or Guliga daiva, a revered spirit in coastal Karnataka, in a manner described as ‘crude, derogatory, and comical’. Methal claimed the act caused ‘deep hurt’ to Hindu sentiments, particularly among the Tulu-speaking community.
