This is an opinion column.
Hugh Freeze had been lying low.
Exactly a month passed since his firing as Auburn’s football coach before he emerged for his first interview on Tuesday.
Wearing a smile and the hat of the sports agency that represents him (the one with Jimmy Sexton), Freeze gave Auburn no reason to second-guess their decision.
Held in contrast to the Monday introduction to Auburn successor Alex Golesh , the 33-minute conversation with friend David Pollack confirmed what we already knew.
Auburn is in better hands now.
Credit to Freeze for taking the high road by speaking highly of the administrators who dropped the ax. There wasn’t much leverage to torch them, but that hasn’t stopped jilted coaches from striking that match.
No, he just played more of his greatest hits
