HEMPSTEAD, Long Island (WABC) -- Nassau County police have arrested a suspect in connection with a triple shooting that killed a beloved college basketball player in Hempstead.
Amira McLeod, 19, was a guard on the Monroe University Express women's basketball team.
The shooting happened near Willow and Kennedy Avenues on Nov. 22.
Officers found McLeod and two 20-year-old men with gunshot wounds at the scene.
The men were taken to the hospital and are recovering, but McLeod was pronounced dead.
Police say more information will be released at a news conference Wednesday morning in Mineola.
