One person was hospitalized following a three-car crash in Manchester Tuesday, Dec. 2, authorities said.
At 9:43 a.m., officers responded to Route 70 and Hilltop Road in Whiting after a gray 2017 Toyota Cambry crashed into a silver 2002 Dodge Caravan traveling west on Route 70 that had slowed to make a left turn on Hilltop Road, Manchester police said.
The impact propelled the Dodge into the eastbound lane of travel causing it to collide with a gray 2016 Hyundai Accent which was travelling east on Route 70, police said. The Hyundai was redirected off the roadway where it came to final rest in the wooded area south of Route 70, police said.
The driver of the Hyundai, an 85-year-old Manchester man, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation of non-life threatening injuries. The roadway was closed for approximately one hour during the investigation and cleanup, police said.
The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, but following too closely and wet roadway surface conditions appear to be contributing factors, police said.
