RICHLAND TWP, MI — A Hemlock-area man is in jail following an armed standoff with police.
About 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, a Richland Township police officer responded to a residence in the 4200 block of North Fordney Road for a reported domestic assault in progress. A Thomas Township police officer also responded to assist.
As the officers arrived, a neighbor warned them the suspect had firearms and had already fired several shots. The officers then heard additional gunshots from the property.
Police from several agencies responded and cordoned off the area, blocking traffic on Fordney between Dice and Tittabawassee roads.
The Saginaw Emergency Services Team also arrived with the Saginaw Police Department’s BearCat , an armored rescue vehicle.
