BENGALURU: After a gang was arrested for selling adulterated ghee misusing the Nandini brand — which is renowned for its purity and quality — the police department is now on high alert for such illegal activities.
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has also become more vigilant and is moving to crack down on the counterfeit network. It has given a stern warning to traders stop the sale of different brands in Nandini parlours.
In a joint operation by CCB police and KMF’s vigilance squad, the fake ghee network was busted. The accused, who used to purchase Nandini ghee from KMF, were sending the product to Tirupur district in Tamil Nadu and adulterating it in a godown there. Because the packaging was identical, their fraud went on unnoticed for long.
