Sarah Paulson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday, joining a sea of other movie-making elite and nabbing a gushing review of her work from girlfriend Holland Taylor in the process.
Taylor, 82, offered a rare public comment about Paulson, 50, lauding her acting talent and tacking on a few sweet nothings as well.
"Sarah, the actress, is first of all a wild creature in the animal kingdom: warm-blooded, instinctive, mysterious," she said at the Dec. 2 Los Angeles ceremony. "Nothing interferes with her laser perception of her character's traits, its habitat, vulnerabilities, its heroism, its ugliness, terrible truths, its comic pathos. She zeros into a story's central struggle, where most of us aren't even aware of our own."
Paulson, known for her roles in Ryan Murphy's canon, including "American Horror Story" and "American Crime Story," wore a high-necked, black-and-white checkered dress for the occasion, while Taylor, whom she has been dating since 2015, opted for a navy pantsuit and a striped shirt.
"In her acting, you could say Sarah is deceptive, but you would be wrong," Taylor continued. "Her acting is as honest as a vow of faith and as complicated as chemistry. She's not deceiving us, she is practicing magic, a hat trick in flesh and blood."
"She will fearlessly rush to play people who are discredited, pitied, despised, horrible, mean people, twisted, overlooked, misjudged," the actress explained. "The result is she is their defender, their rescuer, their restitution."
Taylor, a Hollywood veteran herself, then turned to Paulson's personal attributes, outside her onscreen characters.
"Most of you here [have known] Sarah for years. You have a long history with her as I have," she said. "Mostly we know the deeply understanding, loving and loyal person who is safety itself."
"Hollywood does well to honor her," she added. "And just in case she doesn't know it, she has a permanent shining star on my street. I love you, darling."
Paulson's ceremony was also attended by actresses Anna Peet, Leslie Grossman, "All's Fair" costar Niecy Nash and her spouse Jessica Betts. Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Murphy, for whom Paulson is an oft-cast star, were also in the audience. Melanie Lynskey and Clea DuVall also posed for photos with the actress.
