LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- On Monday, Ward 4 City Councilwoman Cindy Marx announced she will be resigning, effective Dec. 31.
“Recently engaged, I’m going to be getting married next year and we’ll be moving to Shaker Heights,” she said. “This was a very difficult decision, not only leaving Council but to leave Lakewood, which is a city that I greatly love.
“While it’s hard for me to step away, my fiancé and I are both 74 years old. How much time do we have left? I could’ve waited until my term on Council was completed, but who knows what would’ve happened in those two years.”
A North Royalton native who has called Lakewood home since 1985, Marx previously served on City Council from 2013 to 2017 before being appointed to her current seat in 2022.
