MINDEN, Iowa (WOWT) - Two years after a deadly tornado struck the city, Minden is making strides in its efforts to rebuild .

Minden officials expressed their gratitude to Pottawattamie County in helping smooth the way for recovery efforts.

On Tuesday, officials shared progress being made on several projects around the city, including work on Tamerek Avenue, dozens of trees planted at Kaylor Park, and lots of improvements at the community recreation hub. Habitat for Humanity also broke ground earlier this year on housing projects there.

In total, the city is looking at $12.1 million coming in to help it it rebuild everything from water infrastructure to homes. Minden received $3.7 million in grants, $2.5 million in matching funds, and has applied for an additional $5.6 million in add
