Boney earned an offer from the Wolverines in January and quickly developed a strong connection with defensive line coach Lou Esposito. The Washington D.C. product later turned down offers from Georgia, Penn State, Texas A&M, West Virginia and others, committing to Michigan on April 26. In June, Boney officially visited Ann Arbor, and he also took a visit this fall for The Game against Ohio State.
