December is here, which means the Christmas season has well and truly begun. Although festive celebrations start in November, now is when the festivities really pick up. ‌

There are many Christmas events taking place all over Scotland this month. The Daily Record recently reviewed the Edinburgh and Glasgow markets, but there are also plenty of lesser-known gems across the county. ‌

As reported by the Daily Record , one Christmas village was even previously named the "most quirky" in Scotland. The title went to New Lanark in South Lanarkshire. ‌

The festive wonderland is located at the New Lanark UNESCO World Heritage Site less than an hour from Glasgow by car. It is running until December 24, and is open daily between 10am and 5pm.
