MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - After a dog was found alone barking in the lobby of a Madison Police Department station, officers are hoping to reunite the pup with its owner.

MPD said a sergeant heard a strange barking sound Monday night at the West District Police Station, and officers came out to find the pup by itself.

When officers looked through security footage, they saw two people drop the dog off at 7:55 p.m. Monday.

MPD said in its report that it is unsure if the people who dropped the dog off are its owners, or concerned residents.

MPD said the dog does not have a microchip or tag.

The department reported the situation to Public Health Madison & Dane County Animal Services and Dane County Humane Society.
