NEWBURYPORT, Mass. —
Crews are searching for a person seen clinging to the side of a boat Wednesday in the Merrimack River in Newburyport, Massachusetts, officials said.
Police and fire officials responded at 8 a.m. to reports of a person in the river. According to witnesses, the person was seen clinging to the side of a small skiff.
The boat was later found drifting in the river, officials said.
Newburyport police and fire, state police, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other area mutual aid partners are searching for the person.
