The man accused of driving the vehicle that hit and killed a retired brigadier general on Highway 98 in Hattiesburg has been charged with manslaughter.

The Hattiesburg Police Department has yet to make a statement or put out a release on the accident, but law enforcement sources confirm that Jonathan Daryl Morrow, 33, was charged with manslaughter in the death of Brig. Gen. (Ret.) James Paul Rowlett, 55.

Rowlett was driving from Florida to Monroe, Louisiana to be a key expert witness in the murder trial of Quinton Tellis, who has been accused separately in the brutal murders of a Louisiana woman and a Panola County woman. Rowlett served America in high-level military positions and as an intelligence analyst for the Department of Justice for 32 years.
