NORTH PROVIDENCE – The town is getting its act together on carrying out administration of grants received, says a new municipal grant writer, a critical step to avoid potentially jeopardizing big dollars.

New grant writer Sherry Lupoli and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) manager Maria Rosa Tacuma, an outside consulted, presented to the Town Council’s finance subcommittee on Monday, updating members on a grants administration situation that’s generated plenty of confusion in recent months.

Lupoli said how she’s getting acclimated in the new position and getting a handle on awarded grants and deadlines. In her first week, she said, she managed two late reports and sought three extensions on grants.
