GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Less than a month ago, several of the Grand Rapids area’s best boys basketball players signed with college basketball programs, thus ending their recruitment and allowing them to focus on their senior seasons.
On Tuesday, a few of those athletes showed why they are future Division-I college basketball players, as Michigan’s 2025-26 high school season got underway.
Central Michigan signee Jake Bascom led his Rockford team to a 69-34 win over Forest Hills Northern by scoring 27 points.
Considered by many to be a state championship contender, Rockford jumped out to an early 22-10 lead and increased their advantage to 43-18 at halftime. Eli Wolfe added 10 points, while fellow sophomore Josh Bascom chipped in seven. Senior Dylan Gross contributed eight points.
