A female engineer who claimed she was discriminated against after raising concerns about transgender colleagues using women’s toilets has lost her case at an employment tribunal.

Maria Kelly took action against aerospace firm Leonardo UK, alleging harassment and direct and indirect discrimination at its Edinburgh office in March 2023.

All three complaints were dismissed.

Ms Kelly, who describes herself as holding gender-critical beliefs, has said she will appeal.

In her case, which was heard in October, she told the tribunal she believed biological sex is immutable and that “a man cannot identify as a woman and a woman cannot identify as a man.”
