Iam happy to read that The Baltimore Sun’s Brian Wacker is trying to get past the excuses for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s recent shoddy play ( “What’s wrong with Ravens QB Lamar Jackson? There isn’t one answer.” Dec. 1). However, I believe that Jackson’s poor performance is much more psychological than physical.

I can only ask one question: What is Lamar’s incentive to perform? He has a five-year guaranteed deal for $260 million through 2028. Modern math tells me that breaks down to $1 million per week, $142,857 per day, $5,952 per hour and nearly $100 a minute for five years. Lamar will get paid at that rate through 2028 regardless of whether he wins or loses another game — or even takes another snap for that matter.
