As of Sunday, Matt Sieg was having trouble making heads or tails out of his college situation.

Sieg, a star senior quarterback/defensive back at Fort Cherry High School, was pretty sure that he would decide between Pitt and Virginia Tech.

“I might just flip a coin,” Sieg said.

But the coin came up ... West Virginia.

On Wednesday morning, Sieg announced on the CBS Sports YouTube channel that he had chosen the Mountaineers. Wednesday was the national early signing day, and Sieg signed WVU, which was a surprise to many. Sieg’s decision ends a recruiting saga for one of the more accomplished players in the history of the WPIAL.
