CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cuyahoga County is preparing for a major $45 million renovation of the Virgil E. Brown Neighborhood Family Service Center that officials say will consolidate Health and Human Services operations, eliminate costly leases and modernize the spaces where thousands of residents seek assistance each year — but it will require shifting around offices in the interim.
To jumpstart renovations, County Council is weighing a $4.2 million contract with The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company that would begin the design and early demolition work for the project at 1641 Payne Ave. The project, expected to total around $45 million, would transform the 30-plus-year-old building into a central HHS hub by early 2028.
