Thursday night, the Southern Lehigh and Twin Valley football teams will make their first appearances in a state final.

In Twin Valley’s defense, though, the PIAA football tournament is older than its program. The Raiders started playing the sport in 1996 and are in their 30th season.

Southern Lehigh (14-1), which started playing football in 1969, will meet Twin Valley (14-0) in the PIAA Class 4A final 7 p.m. Thursday at Cumberland Valley High School’s Chapman Field.

The Raiders are having one of the greatest seasons in the history of Berks County football.
