The college football season is over for the majority of teams at the Football Championship Subdivision level of Division I, including the University of Northern Colorado.

The 24-team playoff field was announced Nov. 23, leaving the 105 others to begin plans for 2026.

The early signing period for Division I football is Dec. 3-5, the transfer portal is open Jan. 2-16 and the regular signing period begins Feb. 4 and runs through the spring.

Earlier this fall, the NCAA announced it eliminated the spring transfer portal window for Division I football players and moved the winter window to January from December. The portal is one of the biggest additions to college sports in the last five years, and it allows players to change schools as many times as they choose without penalty.
