WASHINGTON — An 88-year-old veteran working as a cashier in Michigan has become a viral sensation as people around the world have banded together to help him retire.
Ed Bambas works at the Meijer supermarket in Brighton, Michigan. He took the job to help pay his bills after initially being retired for more than a decade.
Despite only having a flip phone and no social media presence himself, Bambas recently caught the attention of an Australian TikTok and Instagram star named Samuel Weidenhofer . Weidenhofer's videos are the kind of "feel-good" positivity content that uplifts the spirit of people watching through displays of generosity and goodwill.
When a commenter mentioned Bambas, Weidenhofer booked a flight to Michigan to meet the man in person.
