Sachse has won at least a share of the district championship in each of the last four seasons and it was chosen as the preseason favorite in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches preseason 9-6A poll.

Wylie was the district runner-up a year ago and was picked to finish third this season in the TABC poll, but they made a statement on Tuesday by claiming a 76-39 victory over the Mustangs.
