To the Editor:
For anyone following the political scene, all will agree that the Democrats resurged in elections nationally, statewide, countywide and locally. All, that is, except in the village of Solvay.
The village had races for mayor and trustees in the First Ward, Second Ward and Third Ward.
In the end, the Democrats couild only win one (or 25%) of those four races — First Ward trustee — but only by 26 votes.
So, what happened?
The late and great political leader Winston Churchill is credited with the following: “The success and effectiveness of any event, activity or institution is directly influenced by those who lead based on experience, foresight and integrity.”
Did the “new” Democratic leaders calling the shots and running the campaign exemplify these qualities?
